I was on my morning walk listening to your Monday Memo and so I had to follow it by cueing up Chaka Khan and bopping along the path, much to the amusement of other walkers. Then, in celebration of my wedding anniversary today I segued to one of my favorite get up and dance songs, "Let's Hear it For The Boy," sung by the uhmazing Deneice Williams. Great pulse pumper!
I LOVE THAT SONG and I almost wrote about it! But there are so many great songs form the 80s that I've had to whittle my list way down. Someday we'll hold a dance party in Seattle and make a gigantic playlist, and that song will be our first one!
You're inspiring me to try new workouts and Chaka Kahn back in rotation . . . how could I not after you saying "a neon bricolage of weird synths, record scratches, and programmed electronic drums"?!?! Thanks, Alicia!
Before all of my seizure-related accidents (that left me a bit a shy), I used to go with my girlfriend Alisa (same name) and her husband down to Arthur's Tavern in the West Village and they had this sign that said "Absolutely No Dancing!" and a brilliant band and we would all be up dancing to Sexy Mother F*cker" by Prince and it was just heaven. I so want to get back to that part of my life again.
LOVE that song and have danced to it like 100 times including at my wedding party. There are more brilliant, sexy, awesome parts of your life still to come :)
That's a lot of bunnies! And, also yes to dancing and keeping our bodies moving for life. We love learning about the songs that speak to you. Thanks for sharing them. 💜

It is always in my physical exercise (and dance) playlist.
"Feeling as good as buns in the spring" is what I want for us all! Goodness, thank you for this!
Ditto, Nancy, and I hope we can feel like that forever :)
I just walked four miles for a pastry. We do what we have to do.
EXACTLY :)

I mean, that's everything I love about the 80s! Chaka is powerful fun, and I hope you enjoy :)
